Hidradenitis Suppurativa

More effective forms of treatment for hidradenitis suppurativa include:

• Antibiotics to fight infections caused by the bacteria induced by follicle blockages in the apocrine glands.
• High-dose systemic steroids for their inflammatory effect.
• Birth control pills, as a measure to balance hormones.
• Surgery is often used to make incisions for pus drainage, to remove recurring legions, and to correct the scars left as a result of a previously infected area that has not healed properly.
• Radiotherapy, more commonly known as radiation, is also successfuly being used to treat some hidradenitis suppurativa patients.
• Retinoids have also been used but with limited results.
